Ezine Publishing And The Issue Of Your Time Commitment!
June 4, 2008 |
While ezine publishing is one of the best Internet marketing tools available, it’s not as easy as some in the field make it seem. You do need to be prepared to make a significant time commitment, particularly when you are initially launching the publication.
Unfortunately, too many people get into ezine publishing and try to do too much. However, there are ways to use your time more efficiently when you’re working on your publication.
Save Time, Spend Money
The most obvious way to save time is to hire other people to deal with the burdens of ezine publishing. For example, if you have a ghostwriter producing content for you then that’s one less item on your to-do list. If you prefer handling the writing, you could hire someone to design the layout, to sell ad space, or to handle distribution.
Of course, hiring more helpers means increasing the costs and reducing your profits. Only you can decide whether your time is valuable enough to warrant bringing on additional workers.
Make Reductions
In ezine publishing, the first issue is usually the most ambitious. The Internet marketer has big plans for the publication: weekly distribution, hundreds of new articles a month, etc. After completing that initial issue, most people tend to cut back in the future.
That’s because they realize how much work is really required in ezine publishing. You need to be realistic about what you can accomplish and what you can deliver to your audience. While weekly ezines are great, they often aren’t practical. You may want to have 10 fresh articles in each installment but five might be more doable.
Don’t hesitate to make changes to your ezine to make it more manageable. After all, your audience would probably rather read a handful of great articles once a month than more recycled garbage every 7 days.
