Boost Your Branding With Promotional Items
December 20, 2007 |
Branding is an important part of any company’s process. Basically, branding is taking your company name and image and helping the customer view your business in a certain light. Branding includes your company name, your logo, the colors your use, and even the sounds associated with your products or services.
When you brand your company in a certain way, your audience of potential customers, they’ll have a clear image of you in their heads. Some of the most successfully branded companies include McDonald’s, MTV, Disney, Microsoft, Mercedes-Benz, CocaCola, Playboy, and Nike. You can join their wonderful branding as well, and one way to help brand your company is through the use of promotional items.
Promotional items are those items that you give customers, in order to help to brand your company and remind others of your business’s products and services. Most companies use promotional items generously, having pens, pencils, mugs, t-shirts, toys, and a plethora of other items to help with promotion. What items you pick are up to you, but remember—this is one of the best and most sure-fire ways to brand your business. Consider promotional items are your number one chance to brand your products or services to the general public. Choices regarding your promotional items should not be taken lightly.
First and foremost, consider the color of your promotional items. When you see something from afar, the first thing you will notice is the color, and when you leave something behind, the most pressing memory you’ll have in your mind will be of the color. Quick, what are the colors of McDonalds? Yellow and red, of course. What about CocaCola? Red. Color is important to keep everything uniform, and your promotional products should reflect this. Imagine how confusing it would be to see purple arches one day!
Color is not the most important part of branding, however. It’s more about the whole package. What kind of impression do you want to give out? Of course, all companies want to relay the information that they are the best in their industry and characteristics like integrity and friendliness are common, but more specifically, how do you want your company to appear? Brightly colored toys might be great as promotional items for a company that wants to say there are fun and young. More “adult” promotional items, however, might be better for a company that wants to give off the impression that they are serious.
The quality of the promotional items are also important. If you only sell high-end products, than you should only give away high-end promotional items. The size of the promotional items is not as important as the quality. If you don’t have a lot of extra money in your budget, choose items like pens or magnets—but make sure that these smaller items are still high quality.
Never overlook the possibility for branding with your promotional items. After all, branding should be a part of every aspect of your business. Promotional products are just one of the ways in which you can boost your company’s branding.
