When I was losing weight, I had to take on each challenge with a mindset that I would be able to overcome it. Those weeks when I would lose hardly any weight left me dumbfounded. The key aspect that brought me past those difficulties was a strategic change in my diet or exercises. Sometimes your body just needs a little extra motivation to get in gear and this is what I did.

1. I cheated!

That’s right, you didn’t read that wrong, I cheated. I knew that my body had hit a plateau and it was starting to become to used to what I was eating to really benefit from the same old routine. I knew the only way to overcome this was to “shock” my body. Now in the beginning, when I say cheated, what I really mean is I started what is known as “carb cycling.” I would introduce more carbohydrates into my diet for a day or two effectively shocking my body into weight loss again. This technique worked each and every time I did it having followed it up with great results on the scale the next week. Now these days I have a little bit more muscle built up, so I tend to have a larger choice of what I would like to include in a “cheat meal.” Either way this method will 9/10 break you out of that slump.

2. I would change my workout split.

I’m a very organized person. I loved to measure and take down measurements each and every week so that I could see my progress in motion. Every once in a while though, I would notice my progress slowing down for a week or two at a time, which was extremely aggravating! This is when I knew I needed to change up my workout a bit. For instance, on Mondays I would workout my Chest and Triceps together with 3 or 4 different lifts per body part. To switch it up I would change the exercises done and start lifting Chest with Back, then the next day I would life Biceps and Triceps. This shift in exercise always broke me out of any slump I was in and propelled me to the measurements I was looking for.

These two tips will help you out tremendously, you just need to keep in mind that a little change here and there is never a bad thing. Good Luck!
