A wedding reception is the primary means through which the couple interacts with the guests and share pleasantries with them. It is the most casual of all the ceremonies and has the effect of producing a lasting effect on the visitors. Do not line up everybody at the reception hall for greeting. You would unnecessarily prolong the reception and make everybody feel tired before the event begins. At most, let only the couple do the greeting whilst the others remain seated or standing.

Reduce the number of poses. Poses tend to slow down the party if not disrupt it. If you have a guest volume of 500 and 100 are constantly posing for the cameras, there would be complete disruption with the serving of meals, dancing and general movement.

Many couples would like to spend some time with guests they have not seen for a long time. This habit has the effect of delaying the party and disrupting it. It is recommendable to let the couple greet everyone generally or if they cannot, then quickly pass by each table without standing to exchange jokes etc.

Buffets have proved easier to manage at receptions than sit down dinners. Visitors have a large choice of food and you do not have servers and waiters mingling too much with the guests and interfering with movement. You give them the opportunity to dance when they will and to what they want. Sit down dinners are expensive and require extensive management. You have the waiters, the sides, the tables and chair arrangement amongst others.

Keeping your reception under control is an essential part of your wedding planning. The least thing you want to create at your event is chaos and complaints. Stick to this plan for an effective reception or organization.
