Internet has wrought enormous changes in our lives. Our lives nowadays are being shaped by what is new in the online world. Life has become extremely fast paced. We adjust to the rapid changes in technology with each passing day. It has become quite normal to spend your life in the virtual reality of the online world. Internet has provided the largest medium for people to get together than any other physical medium.
Sharing your interests, exchanging views, making acquaintances, all these have become more virtual than real. We do not meet so many people or interact with so much, as we do in the online world. In a way, internet has brought people a lot more closer than they could have been in the real world.
Social media is one such way of interacting with each other. Through these means, people of similar interests and opinions interact with each other online. It is one of the wonders of the internet in bringing people close together. People share content, insights, perspectives and opinions on social media. Social media includes blogs, forums, pod casts, message boards, social networking sites and web logs.
Social media can be in the form of images, text, video and also audio. Social media is also used by websites for marketing purposes. Social media can be targeted for certain purposes, mainly it is used for marketing and promotion. Other reasons can include exchange of information. Blogs are mostly used to express ideas; business blogs are used to get your message across to a larger number of people. This is an effective way of promoting your site, traffic generation and also to bring people together.
