Shattered, Broken And Abandoned
June 3, 2008 |
Here is a story of 2 brothers born to the same parents in a low income area.
Living in an area where life always seemed to be grey the boys had hints of goodness when they would trek to their grandparents house in farm country where life seemed to slow down a bit. Their life in the inner city seemed to be fast and racy and nerves, never seemed to slow down long enough for their emotional level to catch up and take a breath.
The 2 boys grew and went through grammar school that seemed to be trying enough as the neighborhood seemed to continue on a downward turn to more crime and errode the innocence of a young life. During these tender years young children usually do not have a care or are immune to intimidation. Not in the city where there seems to be darkness hiding in the shadows waiting to errupt and devour a young heart.
At this time of their lives the boys seemed to just get through everyday by holding on to their home that was found within the four walls of a building. Without expectaton the boys were shuttled out of the home by their mom one day to their friends house, to enjoy an overnight stay. Only to find themselves being picked up the next morning by their father who worked for a manufacturing plant nearby. Not fully aware that this was strange, their father did not shuttle them here and there that was moms job. Their father held to a strange silence after picking up the boys from 2 different locations. When returning home he busted out in tears and said your mom is gone. The boys had no idea that this was the begining of a tragedy that would haunt their emotions as long as they lived and that the gnawing feeling of abandonment would pull at them during their journey through life.
The two boys went through high school and then hit life in the working world. 1 ended up in prison the other one jumping from job to job trying to create some type of success in his life.
Today the 2 boys are still alive. 1 in prison, divorced and not knowing his family and the other with a wife and 3 children and owning 2 homes and running a business from home.
When interviewed the brother in prison was asked “what motivated you to end up here?” He replied “I came from a broken home and I felt abandonment all my life, I did not have a choice.”
When the other brother was interviewed he was asked “what motivated you to end up the way you did?”
He replied “I came from a broken home and I felt abandonment all my life, I did not have a choice.”
The greatest 2 motivators are pain and pleasure what is the end result that you want to see in your life. What do you have to motivate you, to who you want to be?
