Lateral Thinking Outside the Box of Chocolates
Posted on June 11, 2008
Feeling stuck? There are steps to take that will lead you outside of that box!
We all get stuck at times. Even the best of us are stymied, unable to come up with an answer, and just essentially mentally blocked occasionally. Sometimes it seems the harder you try to figure out a problem, the more elusive the answer becomes. The harder you try to write a good story, the further away the plot goes. Do you throw your hands up in the air in frustration? Do you declare yourself stupid? Do you relinquish the task to someone else wishing you were better at “thinking outside of the box??
Perspectives On Laughter

Have you ever noticed that when you are caught up in a stressful situation for a while, you are much more likely to pick up a cold or flu? And when everything’s going well you don’t get sick as often? It’s been shown in medical research that both stress and laughter have effects on the immune system, one having negative effects and the other positive ones. “You are what you think.” This statement and others like it can be found in the works of Shakespeare, Chekov, and Emerson, in the teachings of Lao-Tzu and Socrates, and even in the Bible. So, is there any current scientific proof or is this statement simply a wishful thought?
You Are Being Guided
Posted on January 24, 2008
We human beings are instinctively being guided to evolve. As with all creatures, we must adapt to changes in our environment to survive and flourish. We can see evidence of this evolutionary trend in our physiology, our society, and in our technology. Our brains continue to develop, an increasingly large percentage of humanity is becoming literate and educated, and technology has provided immediate access to billions of people’s minds through phone cells and chip sets. Satellite and Internet infrastructure is providing a “global mind” where we see and think the same thing at the same time, as one consciousness. The critical mass of what we think shifts the consciousness of individuals on a global scale. How we think affects the quality of our life, and even our survival.
How To Plan Stress Free Family Vacations
Posted on January 23, 2008
If, like myself, you’ve got children, you’ll no doubt understand my apprehension at the prospect of traveling abroad as a family this summer. Traveling with kids is not for the faint-hearted or disorganized. Having made enough mistakes in the past for us all, I now know that it’s all in the preparation.
Firstly, you need to make sure that wherever you’re heading it’s going to be child-friendly. I know this sounds fairly obvious, but it’s amazing what we forget to consider when we get in the holiday mood. We start thinking about those wonderful beaches and blue seas, and imagine that of course we’ll be able to find something for our kids to do when we get there. Right.
Preparing A More Powerful Presentation
Posted on January 10, 2008
Most every professional has to give a presentation at some point (and some, most every day). And while some enjoy presenting to groups, the vast majority of people would say it isn’t their favorite activity.
Because presenting to groups isn’t fun for most, and further, because it isn’t easy, people are often stymied as to what steps to take to create a presentation that will be successful and, at the same time, less stressful.
Achieving these twin ideas of creating a better presentation with less stress is the goal of the suggestions that follow. First, grab 10-12 index cards, and then, as you read, think about a specific presentation that you might need to give soon.
Stress Overload - 5 Steps To Relieve Overwhelming Stress
Posted on December 25, 2007
Have you ever felt that incredible weight of the world on your shoulders, spinning out of hand? I’m here to show you ways to relieve that overwhelming feeling of stress that just sends you reeling into the pit of doom.
1. Step back and find the humor.
Today I was visiting with a friend, after several months of missing her. I mentioned that my son was out of control these days, and we talked about how we’d both threatened our sons with not making their next birthday if they didn’t settle down. Neither of us would do anything to hurt our sons, and they know that. But suddenly we both felt the humor in our empty threats. Their behavior seemed less extreme and we knew we’d be able to get through the next moment because we were laughing at the last moments.
