The Samsung Tocco - Good But Not Perfect

Samsung Tocco is good but not perfect. Lets consider why it is so.

The Tocco file management is considered an upgrade over other Samsung handsets. It employs separate tabs for phone memory and memory cards, different folders for videos, images and sound. These allow the handset to sort its memory content. The file browser is extremely functional which should make users happy.

There are some irritating issues concerning gallery file videos taken by the phone. One of them is that when zoomed, instead of showing smooth color gradients what are presented are large colored spots. But these photos are okay when downloaded to PCs and other devices, so there are no serious problems really. Actually the gallery interface is real nice and easy.

The Tocco handset used to have problems with sluggish memory card reading but the irritant has been permanently resolved. Memory card reading is now fast and should not trouble users at all.
The music player of the Tocco is good. The touch operation has been improved while its functionality remains reliable. It allows filtering tracks by album, genre and author. It has recently played and most played tracks and in addition you can customize your own play list.

There is room for 500 SMS, 200 broadcast, 30 push, and 30 configuration messages. Emails and MMS storage depends on the free memory and with a 228MB memory there is no lack of space.
The email client is quite excellent and it can manage five POP or IMAP accounts. Download is user-defined and files from memory as well as calendar events, business cards, notes or tasks can be attached to e-mails. The Tocco also has SOS message feature which allows you to send SOS messages to 5 numbers. In case of emergency, after setting -up the SOS feature, you only have to push the volume rocker four times with a locked keypad and cries for help will be sent. This is a feature most useful during these uncertain times.

The only component of the Tocco which is a source of disappointment is its video player. It is not bad actually since it covers most of the basics but it cannot play a VGA clip taken at 30 fps. A real pity since its large screen can really provide a good viewing experience. Well, that’s Tocco. It is good by any standards but not perfect.
